Poly Bags are plastic bags ideal for storing and shipping small and loose items.

Poly Bags: The Basics

Poly bags are perfect for keeping things organized and separated. Most are clear for easy viewing and have an easily closed top to secure what’s inside. They come in an assortment of styles and sizes to handle all types of loose objects. If you need to keep multiples of items together and close at hand, poly bags are for you.

Poly Bags: How to Choose

What’s going inside the bag? How long will it be in there, where’s the bag going to sit, and how secure does the bag need to be?

Nuts and bolts go in regular poly bags secured by twist ties. Sponges, foam and anything needing to stay moisture free go in reclosable bags. Samples of products and store menus hang easily in doorknob bags. And electronic components like motherboards and memory cards are safest in anti-static bags.

Poly Bags: Types

Anti-Static Bags are colored pink and prevent static build-up in electronic components.

Doorknob Bags are great for leaving samples, flyers and menus on a customer’s door. The clear bag showcases what’s inside while protecting it from the elements.

Drawstring Bags have a double-pull drawstring built-in. It’s a secure closure that’s easy to open again and lets the bag hang on a wall or rack.

Drum Liners extend the life of drum containers by preventing dust, dirt and chemicals from collecting inside. They also make clean up easier later on.

Elastic Drum Covers protect the opening of large drum containers from anything that might cause contamination to its contents.

Flat Bags are the poly standard, lightweight and see-through. They protect against dirt and moisture and are easily closed by twist tie, tape or heat sealing.

Garment Bags come on a roll, perforated for easy removal. Used by dry cleaners and clothing stores, they help protect clothes from dirt and other damaging elements.

Gusseted Bags have expandable sides and a fitted bottom. They make it easier to pack bulky or oddly-shaped items, and can be sealed in the same ways flat bags are.

Poly Bag Rolls are perforated for easy removal. Available in various sizes, they’re among the most convenient ways to use poly bags.

Poly Tubing is a long and open-ended roll of poly material. Using proper machinery, the tubing can be cut to the exact length you need. They can then be sealed in the same ways flat bags are.

Printable Bags are often slightly opaque to allow for side printing to really pop. Names, addresses, logos, and even suffocation warnings are easily printed on the sides.

Reclosable Bags are like heavy duty Ziploc® bags. Available in various sizes and colours, they can be written on and hold anything from dish sponges to food.

Rust Preventative (VCI) Bags are specialty bags that seal out dirt, dust and moisture while acting as a corrosion inhibitor for its contents.

Trash Can Bags & Liners are used nearly everywhere. Available in boxes and rolls, they come in a number of colours and styles mean for uses like food, paper, and even biohazard.

Vented Bags have small holes in them to avoid having too much air sealed in a bag, causing it to burst.

Wicketed Bags are designed to aid in quick and easy filling. Usable by hand or machine, they’re able to accept anything from nuts and bolts, to dish sponges and food.

Poly Bags: Words Worth Knowing

Anti-Static material reduces static build-up. It’s most commonly used to ship electronics.

Mil is the measurement of a poly bag’s thickness. One mil equals one thousandth of an inch. The bigger the mil number, the thicker and stronger the bag is.

Perforations are lines of small holes usually made every 12” on sheets or rolls. Think of kitchen paper towels, easy to tear off and use.

Polyethylene is the most common form of plastic. Its primary use is in packaging such as plastic bags, films, and containers.

Polypropylene is a mixed plastic used in a wide variety of applications. This includes packaging components, textiles such as ropes and tarps, and electronics equipment. It is rugged and unusually resistant to chemicals and solvents.

Self-Seal is an adhesive strip on a pouch. Simply peel off the protective liner and close it up.

Twist Ties are long coils of easily cut wire bound in paper or plastic and used to seal poly bags.

U.V. Resistance is a plastic’s ability to withstand the damaging effects of sustained direct sunlight.
